What size frame loom is right for me & which kit should I purchase?

F E A T U R E S

Interchangeable design. All of my weaving looms can be interchanged with each other, creating many different sized looms.

Easy assembly. These looms are shipped unassembled and come with 8 solid brass screw sets. All you need is a flat head screwdriver to tighten the screws together.

Designed & made in Australia by Rainie of The Unusual Pear and laser cut in Sydney, Australia with 7mm sustainably sourced FSC certified bamboo. Each bamboo piece is sanded smooth by me, in my home studio.

Warp sett. My looms are incredibly versatile, the wide notches allow you to warp with super chunky yarns as well as finer yarns. High density warping allows you 8 ends per inch and low density warping allows you 4 ends per inch.

Little - Small
It may be little but this pocket size weaving loom packs a punch! This little loom is perfect for testing out a design before weaving it on a large scale. A great option if you want to give weaving a try for the first time. Small projects like bookmarks or coaster or mini woven wall hangings. The perfect gift for little kids!
Frame size: 20 cm x 20 cm (8" x 8")
Total weaving Area: 13 cm x 18 cm (5" x 7")

Beginner - Medium
This size is perfect for every beginner. It's the loom I choose to use in my Weaving Workshops as it's easy to warp up and finish a weaving in a matter of hours. You can also warp a smaller section for smaller projects.
Frame size: 30 cm x 30 cm (12" x 12")
Total weaving Area: 23.5 cm x 28.5 cm (9.5" x 11")

Lil Sista - Large
This size is great if you want to weave larger projects such as large scale wall hangings, pillows, tote bags and so on. You can also warp a smaller section for smaller projects.
Frame size: 40 cm x 40 cm (23.5" x 23.5")
Total weaving Area: 39 cm x 34 cm (15.5" x 13.5")

Big Mama - Extra Large
This size is great if you want to weave larger projects such as large scale wall hangings, pillows, tote bags and so on. You can also warp a smaller section for smaller projects.
Frame size: 60 cm x 50 cm (23.5" x 19.5")
Total weaving Area: 53 cm x 43 cm (21" x 17")

Hello Hydrangea - Extra Large (but really, XXL compared to the rest of my range)
The most versatile size of my whole range of frame looms. This loom can be used as multiple looms in one. The large size allows for ample room to explore and be creative. But, when you only want to work on a small piece and don't want to waste your string, the bottom notches are adjustable!
Frame size: 90 cm x 60 cm (2 ft x 3 ft)
Total weaving Area: 80 cm x 52 cm (31.5" x 20.5")

When choosing a loom, I really think it's important to think about what you want to make first. Are you just testing the waters as a beginner? Going too big too soon may feel intimidating. I often suggest to start on a small scale and work your way up.

I have multiple size looms. While you can use a huge loom to make a small piece, if you have a small loom, you're much better off using the size that fits the piece.

I love weaving while I've got my feet up on the couch and watching tv. This means I have a smaller loom which can rest in my lap. You definitely can't grab the XXL loom and pop it on your lap for a quick weave.

Also think about the materials. If you're getting a big loom, you're going to need a lot of yarn to fill it up.

Each loom is available to purchase on it's own, which includes literally just the weaving loom on it's own; as a Starter Kit which includes the weaving loom plus the essential tools; or the Complete Kit which includes all the appropriate tools plus yarn.

If you are just beginning your weaving journey, I usually recommend a Complete Kit as it has absolutely everything you need to get started when it arrives.

If you already consider yourself a crafter and you've got a bunch of yarn at home from previous knitting or crochet adventures, you could go with a Starter Kit.

If you're purchasing an additional loom for your collection or if you have weaving tools from another maker, you can opt for the loom only!
